BURLEY-IN-WHARFEDALE residents will have the opportunity to see the village's current draft Neighbourhood Plan on Saturday January 16, before it is submitted to Bradford Council.

Burley Parish Council is holding the consultation event at the Queen's Hall, Main Street, from 10am to 1pm.

Villagers can see the draft proposals being reviewed by Bradford, review the preferred sites selected to meet housing needs, look at the proposals designed to preserve the character of Burley, consider the plans to support and diversify access to employment, assess ideas to increase access by foot and cycle throughout Burley, and comment on proposals to improve car parking.

The plan is intended to work alongside the eventual Bradford District Local Plan, representing the views of people in Burley on future development in the area.

Data and information was gathered from local organisations including Burley Community Trust, Burley and District Chamber of Trade, Wharfedale Greenway, Greenholme Mills Developments, landowners and developers and Bradford Council.

Following the collection of data from local organisations, focus groups, individuals, voluntary and charity groups, a two day public engagement was held in March 2014 followed by an exhibition at Burley Library during the following week.

More than 500 people attended the exhibition and over 400 written comments were received.

A second public consultation exercise was held in october 2014.

Following the careful consideration of all representations, a proposed Neighbourhood Plan, will be submitted to Bradford Metropolitan District Council in early 2016.

The Plan will be checked by Bradford Council and published for a further six weeks’ consultation. It will then be subjected to an independent examination by a jointly appointed examiner.
