FOUR intrepid Alzheimer's Society staff will attempt to conquer the Yorkshire Three Peaks next weekend.

Otley resident Fiona Porteous and colleagues Dawn Perkins, Belinda Connolly and Rhian Barnabas, who have all supported Yeadon's Forget Me Not cafe, will take on the challenge on July 25.

The quartet, dubbed 'The Three Peaksters', have been training hard for the fundraiser, which will involves climbing Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent.

The group, who are based at the charity's Leeds office, hope their efforts will raise at least £300.

Dawn, who has been a dementia support worker for the North West of Leeds for the past seven years, said: "I decided to take part in this challenge for the Alzheimer’s Society because of our passion for helping to improve the quality of life for people affected by dementia.

"We wanted to do something more to help and thought a challenge like this would not only test our dedication to this cause, but enable us and others to contribute even more.

"It’s great to think we will be raising funds to help support people to live well with dementia and to fund research that one day will find a cure."

Alzheimer's Society community fundraiser, Ju Lee, added: "As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Dawn, Fiona, Bel and Rhian to help us continue our vital work so the Alzheimer's Society can continue leading the fight against dementia."
