ONE of the most unusual and original film love stories of recent years, Her, will be Ilkley Film Society’s next screening at Ilkley Playhouse on Sunday at 8pm.
In the USA of the near future, Theodore falls deeply in love with Samantha – but Samantha is not a human being, she is the operating system on his computer. Is it possible that Samantha has genuine feelings for him? Director Spike Jonze, known for Being John Malkovich, makes this story of artificial intelligence deeply moving and entirely credible.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix and the voice of Scarlett Johansson, the film shows a future world which may be much closer than we might think to our present-day society of people completely absorbed in their smartphones and iPads in public places.
Guest tickets for non-members of the Film Society cost £4 (£2 for students) and can be reserved by calling Richard Fort on 01535 653471. For more details, visit ilkleyfilmsociety.org.uk.
