FRIENDS and past teachers of Wharfedale Montessori School gathered for the official opening of a new classroom.
The Log Cabin will house infants at the Bolton Abbey school.
Friendswho were there for the opening included Barbara Isaacs, executive head of Montessori International, London; the school's first primary teacher, Pauline Harter, from New Zealand and Bradford University professor, Dr Timothy Taylor, a parent of two former Montessori pupils.
The ceremony also marked the start of the Montessori Centenary year and saw pupils entertain visitors with a selection of songs and readings about life in the school.
As part of the celebrations, Ms Harter ran a musical workshop teaching songs from around the world, including the Maori Stick Dance - used to train men in the use of spears.
