I WAS thrilled to read about Jack Megson's fundraising for Epilepsy Charities.
Epliepsy is a condition that is not very often mentioned which is sad.
Thirty years ago we found our 21-year-old son dead in his bed. He had suffered with epilepsy since the age of nine. At that time there was no real explanation as to why this had happened. Since that time there has been much research into Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), much of it happening during sleep.
There is an ongoing research project being carried out by Professor Jefferys of the University of Oxford to fully understand why more than 500 people in the UK are dying in this way each year. It is a serious cause for concern.
