Hundreds of schoolchildren raised money for charity when they took part in an annual sponsored run.
More than 400 pupils from Benton Park covered a total distance of 680 miles with laps around the school’s cross-country circuit.
Half the money raised, which is still being calculated, will go to the Jane Tomlinson Foundation. The rest will go towards developing Benton Park’s programme of extra-curricular activities.
PE teacher Danielle Metcalfe said: “We would really like to improve the range of sports we can offer our students.
“Some of these funds will be put towards improving those opportunities.
“ We are striving to make Benton Park and its pupils a more active community and to provide high- quality sporting opportunities for every pupil.
“The event itself was a major success, with every pupil participating and engaging fully.
“The atmosphere was amazing and the effort and positive attitude from each individual was exemplary.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to the Jane Tomlinson Foundation for their support throughout and for the guest appearance of their mascot.
“Furthermore, a thank you to all the people who supported and sponsored our pupils for this magnificent cause.”
