A successor has been chosen to long-serving Ilkley Grammar School headteacher, Gillian James.
The school, on Cowpasture Road, has announced Helen Williams (pictured), currently Vice Principal at Minsthorpe Community College in Wakefield.
Ms Williams, 38, is a graduate of Cardiff University and has extensive experience of working in a range of large schools for 11 to 18-year-olds, including South Craven School, Garforth Community College and Ossett Academy.
She said she was “absolutely thrilled” to have been appointed as Ilkley Grammar’s new headteacher and is looking forward to getting to know the school better over the coming months before she takes up the post in September.
Ms Williams says her vision of an excellent school is one where students achieve success in all areas of interest to them, and where they leave school enriched and ready for the enormous challenges of life today.
The present head, Mrs James, 60 arrived at Ilkley Grammar in 2002. She leaves at the end of the current academic year.
