A Horsforth nightspot is facing having its licence reviewed after police raised concerns about violence and drugs.
Officers from Leeds District Licensing Unit have made a formal request to Leeds City Council’s Licensing Committee to review the premises licence for The Manor, in Calverley Lane, Horsforth.
The application cites an accumulation of crime and disorder incidents which have increased over the past six months at the premises.
Crimes reported at the premises – which became a music and dance venue in 2012 after previously being a restaurant – are said to have increased in severity from drunken arguments to serious assaults. Officers have also raised concerns about drug use.
An action planning meeting was held in November last year where the premise’s licence holder was told that the police felt all four of the established licensing objectives were being undermined.
These are: the prevention of crime and disorder; public safety; the prevention of public nuisance; and the protection of children from harm.
After the meeting a further four incidents of note were reported at the premises, though none were reported by staff working at the venue.
Licensing officer Cat Sanderson, of Leeds District Licensing, said: “There is a regular theme running through this venue, even after the action planning meeting, in relation to the absence of CCTV, failure to contact the police and underage issues. This cannot be allowed to continue.
“The incidents are increasing in frequency and severity.”
