A six-strong team from White Cross Vets’ practices in Guiseley and Roundhay are to take part in a gruelling triathlon-style challenge to raise £2,500 for Guide Dogs.
The group will head to the Lake District on September 7 to attempt the Coniston Challenge. They will climb Coniston Old Man – one of the highest fells in the Lake District – before completing a 12km bike ride through Grizedale Forest and then kayaking a mile across Coniston Water. Amanda Hatfield, head nurse at White Cross Vets in Guiseley, said: “Although this is going to be a challenging event, it’s for a fantastic cause, which will definitely make it worthwhile. “Working for a family-run vets means we’re all naturally passionate about pets and we regularly care for lots of guide dog puppies and working guide dogs.
“So when we decided to set ourselves a challenge for charity, Guide Dogs was the obvious organisation to support.”
As well as generating sponsorship, the team is holding a number of fundraising events in the company’s Guiseley and Roundhay practices including selling home-made bags of sweets, holding a competition to guess the name of a guide dog puppy and running a raffle to win vouchers donated by local businesses.
