A woman has been banned from keeping animals for five years after admitting allowing three dogs to suffer.

Charlotte Mountain, 26, of Victoria Avenue, Yeadon, appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court for sentencing.

She had already pleaded guilty to charges of failing to meet the needs of a female bull breed dog called Gismo and a male bull breed dog called Rino by failing to protect them from pain, suffering, injury or disease; causing unnecessary suffering to a female bull breed dog called Bingo by failing to seek vet care for her infected and inflamed eyes and causing unnecessary suffering to Gismo and Rino by failing to seek vet care for their chronic skin conditions.

She was also sentenced to a ten- week curfew order between 7pm to 7am and was ordered to pay £100 costs. RSPCA inspector Nikki Cheetham said: “These dogs were in a shocking state when they came to our attention and could not have looked more different after getting the treatment they needed.

“Gismo had virtually no hair on her body and her skin was red raw from sarcoptic mange. She really was a sad sight.

“Rino wasn’t much better, he’d lost the hair on his back and stomach and the skin was inflamed and sore. Bingo had entropian, a condition where the eyelid folds into the eye causing a lot of discomfort, which needed veterinary treatment to be corrected.”

The dogs came to the attention of the RSPCA on June 18, 2012.

Mountain’s partner, Timothy Davy, 27, of Stonegate Road, Thorpe Edge, Bradford – where the offences took place – was found guilty of two allegations at trial and banned from keeping animals for five years. He was convicted of failing to meet the needs of Gismo and Rino by failing to protect them from pain, suffering, injury or disease and causing unnecessary suffering to Bingo by failing to seek vet care for her infected and inflamed eyes.

Inspector Cheetham added: “We always hope for a ban on keeping animals when we bring cases like this to court as it’s the best way to ensure others won’t suffer in future, and I am happy that both Ms Mountain and Mr Davy won’t be able to keep animals for some time.”
