Otley’s mayor has welcomed community groups to a drop-in event designed to help boost online fundraising.
Town mayor Councillor Mary Vickers (Lib Dem, Prince Henry) was a special guest at the awareness-raising session run by Leeds Community Foundation at Otley Courthouse last week.
Visiting representatives from local charities and community groups were given advice on how to raise more money online, and told about the not-for-profit localgiving.com service.
Localgiving.com manager at Leeds Community Foundation, Megan Vickery, said: “It’s really important for groups to think about new ways of raising the money they need.
“Especially in these challenging times, when counting every penny matters more than ever.”
Localgiving.com enables local community organisations, as well as registered charities, to raise money online and benefit from Gift Aid, while showcasing the work they do.
For more details, call Megan on (0113) 242 2426 or send an e-mail to localgiving@leedscf.org.uk.
