Shoppers in Otley have been publicly thanked for helping to donate nearly £1 million of equipment to help local children get active.
The town’s Sainsbury’s store is also thanking Otley Parish Scouts and Bramhope Primary School for the “massive” voucher collections they have made to support its Active Kids scheme.
The school’s efforts gathered 6,974 vouchers this year, while the scouts collected 5,948.
Otley store manager Paul Loughran said: “Our customers have been so supportive of the scheme since its launch and we are looking forward to going out over the next few weeks and seeing how this year’s equipment will benefit children, teachers and group leaders.
“I’d like to thank every customer who’s helped towards donating the £956,865 worth of Active Kids equipment that’s been given to our local education authority since 2005.”
