Rodgers and Hammerstein's King of Siam was famously proud of his extensive family, so he would definitely have approved of the cast of Ilkley Amateur Operatic Society's latest production, The King and I'.

Currently in rehearsals, the show has turned out to be a real family affair with three sets of siblings and two pairs of mothers and daughters in the cast.

In our picture seen rehearsing in the palace school room are Stephanie Burgess, who plays the King's head wife, Lady Thiang; and Helen Liddell, another of the royal wives.

The two mothers are joined by their real-life daughters Frankie and Georgina, who play royal princesses.

Also pictured are Philippa Barton, who plays Princess Tuptim and who will be sharing the stage with her younger sister Kate; Ailish Mullan Wilkinson, who plays Topsy, and is joined by brother Fergal; and sisters Charlotte and Sophie Armitage, who feature as royal children.

The King and I' first opened on Broadway almost 60 years ago. Since then, the show has remained a firm favourite with audiences, with classic songs such as Getting to Know You', Something Wonderful', Hello Young Lovers' and Shall we Dance?' Ilkley AOS' production has a talented cast and an experienced production team. Director Jonathan Tate, Musical Director Sylvia Shepherd and Choreographer Andrew Walton have produced dozens of successful shows between them, and promise to deliver an original and exciting version of this well loved show.
