CAN you imagine life without dogs?

That is the question posed by a family-friendly show that’s coming to Otley Courthouse on Saturday, February 22.

Ogg ‘n’ Ugg And The World’s First Dogg follows the story of two intrepid Yorkshire hunter-gatherer heroes as they team up with their usual mortal enemies - the wolves.

Despite encountering issues with flying meat bones, time-travelling sticks and sabre-toothed tigers the pair finally get to pat the world’s first ‘dogg’.

The show - suitable for anyone aged three or over - starts at 2.30pm and is being presented by Fideri Fidera Theatre who have previously brought Pitschi the Kitten with Dreams and Oskar’s Amazing Adventure to the venue, where they went down a storm.

A Courthouse spokeswoman said: “This ‘reet funny’ comic take on the amazing evolutionary process that transformed the wolf into man’s best friend is sure to be another sell-out.”

Tickets cost £9 for adults, £7 for children.

Children looking forward to their first half-term school break of the year, meanwhile, can get up to all kinds of creative fun at the Courthouse between Monday, February 17 and Saturday, February 22.

The activities on offer will include a daily Fife Workshop which will introduce children aged from six to 11 to what is the plastic starter instrument for anyone wanting to learn the flute.

The sessions will run from 10am to noon from Monday to Friday and costs £3 per child, per session.

The instruments (which the children can keep) and materials are being provided for free thanks to support from Otley Community Fund.

Aspiring DJs will get to try some digital decks on Tuesday, February 18 when two DJ School UK workshops will be held: from 11am to 1pm and from 4pm to 6pm.

Open to children aged ten and over, each session costs £5 and a deck will be available for each pair.

The ancient art of storytelling will be the focus of the activities on Thursday, February 20. Storyteller Vicky Orton will be telling some tall tales about the mischievous creatures that live deep within the Chevin and the children will then get to make their own clay creatures and fridge magnets. Suitable for ages five and over, the workshop runs from 10am to noon and costs £5 per child. (Children under seven must be accompanied).
