A JOYFUL Christmas Adventure is coming to Otley - and will feature members of the community.

Fidget Theatre in association with Little Mighty will present Jack Frost at Otley Courthouse over six days from Tuesday, December 17 to Sunday, December 22.

The musical, described as a ‘Christmas show about friendship and the joy of joining in’, has been written and directed by Andrea Heaton and Ruth Cooper.

The Otley run will feature weekday shows, suitable for schools, plus weekend performances: with each performance including a community cast that has been recruited from the local area following a call-out earlier this year.

The community contributors will be lending their voices and instruments to perform live alongside the professional team.

The story of Jack Frost - A Joyful Christmas Adventure follows the friendship of a ‘slightly naughty but well-meaning little girl’, Holly and the magical but lonely winter sprite, Jack Frost.

After bonding over their shared love of music the pair set out to cause some mischief.

But when everything goes wrong can they make enough magic to save Christmas?

The show also boasts the voice of Yorkshire poet Ian McMillan, as Grandad, and includes a specially written song - You Can Come in From the Cold - by Ed Heaton and James Hamilton from the band Hope and Social.

The grand finale of each performance will see the community cast, voice actors and the audience itself joining forces with the three professional actors to deliver a rousing conclusion.

Fidget Theatre is promising a ‘seasonal treat that’s full of music, joy and plenty of audience participation’.

They added: “This heart-warming play carries the most important message of Christmas: a wonderful reminder of the importance of love, friendship and looking after each other.

“As the theme song goes - ‘If you open up your heart, Let love warm your soul, You can come in from the cold’.”

The weekday Otley shows will take place at 10.30am and be followed by 10.30am and 3pm performances on the Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets cost £9 for adults and £7 for children and the show is suitable for anyone aged four and over.

One free adult ticket will be available for every ten children booked as part of a school or community group outing.
