FORMER Yorkshire Life Landscape Painter of the Year, Linda Mellin, will be showing her work at the AC Gallery, Skipton at the end of the month.

Linda, a former graphic designer who was brought up in the Dales, and now lives in Ilkley, held the first exhibition of her work at the Skipton gallery, in Victoria Court, off the High Street, just more than two years ago, since when her work has become increasingly popular, and winning her the title of landscape painter of the year for 2017.

Now, she is set to return to the gallery which first showcased her work with new original paintings, prints and sketches.

Originally from Hellifield, where she was brought up on a working farm, Linda has lived close to nature all her life. She has always painted and sketched and spent four years at art school in York, finishing with a degree in industrial art and design.

As a student when working on thumb-nail sketches, she frequently had her initial designs torn up by her tutor for putting in too much detail. 30 years on she still gets lost in the detail – spending hours perfecting each part of the layout of her paintings before she even starts to apply the paint.

She has recently been painting in acrylic, and enjoying the vibrant colours, painting the seasons, the countryside, while at the same time helping out on the farm.

Linda’s work will be on show on Saturday, November 30 and on Sunday, December 1. Linda will be at the gallery on the first day of the exhibition, from 10am to 2pm.
