AN EXTRA screening of Fleabag is to be held at Otley Courthouse thanks to popular demand.

The venue’s original screening, as part of National Theatre Live (NTL), of the award-winning, one-woman show takes place on Thursday, September 12 - and has sold out.

Fleabag is the theatrical show that inspired the hit BBC series of the same name, and is written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge - who is also the star of the TV show. The Courthouse has now added an additional ‘encore’ screening of NTL Fleabag for Friday, September 27. Starting at 7pm and with a running time of 80 minutes, tickets cost £14 or £12 for Courthouse Friends.

Classical music fans, meanwhile, can look forward to a new series of Lunchtime Recitals starting up. The new season gets underway on Thursday, September 19 when flautist - and the Courthouse’s Centre Director - Laura Kox and pianist Ben Cockburn perform.

The pair will play pieces by Andy Scott, Ian Clarke, Geraldine Green, Daniel Kessner and David Bennett Thomas.

The recital starts at 1.05pm and tickets cost £5, which includes tea or coffee. Future recitals this year will include appearances by the Chippendale Singers, pianist Simon Watterton, and flautist Elise Fairbairn.

One of the world’s most famous literary families will be the subject of an illustrated talk at the Courthouse this week.

Living with the Brontës takes place on Friday, September 13 from 7.30pm. The event will see Ann Dinsdale, the Principal Curator at the Bronte Parsonage Museum, discussing the whole Bronte ‘clan’.

The family’s three gifted sisters Charlotte, Emily and Anne, and their remarkable literary output during short lives, are understandably what the Brontës are best remembered for.

But Ann’s talk will also examine the lives of other family members and especially the patriarch, Patrick Brontë.

Drawing on her experience as curator, Ann will be showing images of items from the museum’s collection to help illustrate parts of her talk.

The famous Brontë sisters, Emily, Anne and Charlotte Brontë all wrote novels that went on to become regarded as classics including Emily’s Wuthering Heights, Charlotte’s Jane Eyre and Anne’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

Tickets for Living with the Brontës cost £8 or £7 for Courthouse Friends, and the Courthouse Bar will be open beforehand from 6.45pm. For more details visit www.otleycourthouse.org.uk, call (01943) 467466 or pop into the Courthouse on Courthouse Street.
