SOME Last Night of the Proms style entertainment will be served up at Horsforth this weekend.
Leeds Symphony Orchestra will give its annual concert at St Margaret’s Church on Saturday, June 29.
The show, conducted by Martin Binks and guest conductor Christopher Pelly, starts at 7.30pm. It will include renditions of Jerusalem, Rule Britannia, Nimrod, Land of Hope and Glory and other timeless pieces.
There will also be performances of some Puccini arias and duets sung by Heather Jane Taylor (soprano) and Joseph Spratt (tenor).
Mr Binks said: “This is a typical Last Night of the Proms concert with the usual broad programme to suit all tastes.
“The two soloists, Heather Jane Taylor and Joseph Spratt, are top class singers from West Riding Opera who appear regularly in Yorkshire.
“They are both singing the most famous and well-loved arias and duets from the operas of Puccini. Other pieces in the concert will be a selection from The Greatest Showman, the William Tell Overture and excerpts from Carmen.”
Tickets cost £12, under 18s free. They can be purchased in advance from MC Consumables on Town Street, Horsforth or by sending an e-mail to admin@lso.org.uk . Tickets will also be available on the door.
