OTLEY Players are preparing to perform a moving play about the impact of Alzheimer’s disease.
The group will present Alan Stockdill’s The Last Memory at Otley Labour Rooms at 4pm and 7pm on Saturday, March 9 and at 2pm on Sunday, March 10.
The one act drama, which lasts about an hour, focuses on the relationship between a father, Ernest and his daughter, Lynne after Ernest has been diagnosed with the disease.
Based on a true story, it portrays how Alzheimer’s effects both those with the condition and their loved ones - and shows Ernest recording a message for his daughter to ensure her final memory of him is of him at his best.
The bar at the Labour Rooms will be open 30 minutes before and after each performance, and the venue has a stair lift and a wheelchair available.
Otley Players is donating a third of all ticket sales to Otley Action for Older People to support their work for the community, while proceeds from raffle ticket sales will go to the venue’s Access All Areas fund.
Tickets for the play cost £4 and are available to buy in advance from Brown’s Gallery, Otley or can be reserved by sending an e-mail to otleyplayersotley@gmail.com .
Seating is limited so Otley Players are advising people to book beforehand.
