Boy band member Jordan McPhee returned to his roots last week to entertain pupils at his former school in Menston.

Jordan, 21, who is a member of the up and coming band Billiam, was a pupil at St Mary's School in Menston - the same school attended by Simon Rix, Nick Baines and Nick Hodgson of hit rockers Kaiser Chiefs and former 5ive band member Sean Conlon.

The school is used to churning out stars with Emmerdale actress Verity Rushworth, Harry Potter film star Matthew Lewis, his brother Anthony who appeared in Emmerdale and is currently a member of the band The Good Die Young, and Where the Heart Is actor Christian Cook also having been at the school in recent years.

Jordan's band Billiam was formed after a nation-wide search to find the boy band of 2007 and has already toured with Westlife performing to 100,000 screaming fans at some of the country's biggest venues.

The gig at St Mary's saw the band play three of their most popular songs including their debut single Beautiful Ones' which entered the UK chart at number 32 last week.

After their appearance at St Mary's the boys set off to play in Brindisi, Italy, yesterday Wednesday.

They will be doing Party on the Pitch at Hillsborough, Sheffield, on November 4 and will appear in a Children In Need concert at Blackpool Opera House on November 16.

Head of Performing Arts at St Mary's Alacoque Marvin said: "This is the third time ex-St. Mary's students have made the breakthrough into the music industry and we're extremely proud of what they have achieved. Our students really look up to them and are genuinely pleased when they find the time to come back for a visit."

As well as performing, Jordan spent time with his old teachers and spoke to pupils about the band.
