ANIMATION, puppetry and movies have all been lined up at Otley Courthouse for the February half-term holidays.

Anyone interested in cameras and movie-making is invited to join an Animation Workshop on February 15.

Running from 10am to 1pm and suitable for those aged five and over, the event will help participants learn how to make their own short movies – and potentially see them up on a big screen at the end of the day.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for children.

The workshop is designed to link in with the Courthouse's screening of the Shaun the Sheep Movie on February 19.

The PG rated, animated film shows Shaun – one of animator Nick Park's much-loved creations – getting more than he bargained for after deciding to take a day off to have fun.

A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City, and it's up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home.

Suitable for all ages, the film will be followed by a Craft Workshop where attendees can make their very own Shaun, plus his friends, using clay, paint and imagination.

The movie begins at 2pm with the workshop running from 3.45pm to 4.45pm.

Film tickets cost £4 for adults or £2 for children, and combined movie and craft session child tickets are available, priced £5.

A magical wintry tale featuring live music, puppets and projections will round off the venue's events for the young and young at heart.

Hearthside Tales will present The Snow Bear, a story about a polar bear who is taken from his home to be given as a gift to the king of Denmark, on February 20.

Inspired by a Norwegian folk tale, the show follows the bear on his adventures as he encounters mischievous elves, goblins, trolls, and the friendly Tomten, whose magic offers a way to help him find his way back home.

The tale is told by professional storyteller Chris Bostock, the founder of storytelling collective ‘A Bit Crack’, and is performed by musician, composer and actor Ken Patterson.

The characters are brought to life through storytelling, puppets and shadows, and the show also features lots of songs to sing plus music played on cello, tuba, accordion and ukulele.

Audience participation is encouraged, and children are invited to bring along their Teddy Bears to join the fun.

Suitable for ages four to seven, The Snow Bear begins at 1.30pm and tickets cost £8 or £6 in advance, or £9 or £7 on the door.
