I AM not familiar with Yeomen of the Guard' - it is more grand opera than the usual lilting, joyful shows Gilbert and Sullivan wrote.
Wow. What a show. A funky, punky romp. A dynamic production the technicalities of which left one completely overawed. Five screens, colour, light revolving, hitting the audience at times making a couple of scene changes look miraculous. Intelligence and innovative direction. Until I had read the programme which by the way was excellent, I haven't a clue about the story but it didn't matter.
A Man For All Seasons' is a about Sir Thomas More, Chancellor of England who refused to support King Henry Vlll's divorce from Catherine of Aragon in order to marry his mistress Anne.
This gifted and exemplary society are celebrating the production of their 50th show. A first-class exhibition of costume and memorabilia has been put together at the Town Hall which is a credit to the society's love and dedication to G & S operas. This is not to be missed.
I WASN'T sure what to expect from a schools edition' of Les Mis'. This show is difficult enough for adults to perform let alone youngsters aged 11-19.
