YORKSHIRE DALES NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS, CYCLISTS & HORSE RIDERS) (FOOTPATH NOS. 9,11 & 20 (PART) & BRIDLEWAY NO. 18 (PART), GRINTON) ORDERS 2019, Nos. 6, 7,10 & 11 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14(1) (as amended)

Notice is hereby given that the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has made the above Orders, the effect of whi ch i s to prohibit any person from proceeding along part of Footpath Nos. 9,11 and 20 and any pedestrian, cyclist or horse rider from proceeding along part of Bridleway No. 18 in the Parish of Grinton in the district of Richmondshire from 27 September, 2019 until 5 March, 2020 inclusive.

These Orders follow emergency notices dated 5 September, 2019 until 26 September, 2019 inclusive. The closures will be put into effect when necessary by means of the erection of notices and signs. The Orders are necessary for reasons of public safety due to flood damage. Footpath No. 9 (part), Grinton

The alternative route to be used during the closure period will be as follows:-

From the point of closure at Grid Reference SE 0487 9653 along the track and bridleway in a south easterly direction for approx. 512 metres to join the footpath bearing west and then south west before turning north westerly following the gill to point of closure

at GR SE 0494 9633 and return.

The closure is for a distance of approx. 235 metres and public

safety due a historic and listed stone arch culvert adjacent to the

mill being completely washed away by the floods and which

carried the footpath, now impassable.

Footpath No. 11 (part), Grinton

There is no suitable, off-road alternative route to be used during

the closure period.

The closure is for a distance ofapprox. 14 metres between GR SE 0467 9831 & SE 0468 9831 and public safety due to the collapse ofthe abutments and the bridge being washed away. Footpath No. 20 (part), Grinton

The alternative route to be used during the closure period will be as follows:-

From the point of closure at Grid Reference SE 0437 9786 following the bridleway in a south westerly direction for approx. 170 metres before joining the footpath and continuing south west to the junction of bridleways, bearing east, south east to the next crossroad of bridleways and taking the track east, north east to join the footpath bearing north, north east to the point of closure

at GR SE 0449 9780 and return.

The closure is for a distance of approx. 204 metres and public safety due to washout making the Gill dangerous to cross. Bridleway No. 18 (part), Grinton

The alternative route to be used during the closure period will be as follows:-

From the point of closure at Grid Reference SE 0419 9766 taking the bridleway in a westerly direction for approx. 270 metres before bearing south, west at the fork in bridleways and continuing until the next junction before bearing south, south east to the crossing of paths at the Ford and from here following the bridleway east, south east to the next crossroad of bridleways and taking the track east, north east to the county road bearing north, east along the road for approx. 210 metres before turning west, north west to point of closure at GR SE 0442 9761 and return.
