Footpath No. 53 (part), Arkengarthdale & Footpath No. 17 (part), Reeth, Fremington & Healaugh

The alternative route to be used during the closure period will be as follows:-

From the point of closure at Grid Reference NZ 0170 0201 follow the footpath west to the bridleway junction bearing east, north east following the track passing Storthwaite Hall and bearing south easterly to join the riverside footpath turning westerly and following Arkle Beck to point of closure at GR NZ 0187 0189 and return.

The closure is for a distance of approx. 225 metres and public safety due to the river cutting a new course at GR NZ 0171 0201 damaging the bridge and filling the original beck line with piles of rock. More than 130 metres of riverside path and river bank south east of the bridge has also been washed away making it impassable.

Footpath No. 8 (part), Reeth, Fremington & Healaugh

The alternative route to be used during the closure period will be as follows:-

From the point of closure at Grid Reference NZ 0409 0013 east, north easterly along the footpath to its junction with the unsurfaced track and continuing in a northerly direction to point of closure at GR NZ 0441 0068 and return. The closure is for a distance of approx. 665 metres and public safety due to a landslip which has removed the surface of the footpath making it unstable and dangerous to walk.
