A man has been bailed after allegedly threatening to kill Home Secretary Theresa May and one of her predecessors Jack Straw, police have said.

Detectives said that on Monday they arrested a 33-year-old man from Blackburn on suspicion of making threats to kill and malicious communication.

The man has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The threats were allegedly made during a telephone call to the office of Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry on April 18.
