Guiseley 3 Sollihull Moors 1

Three goals in seven second-half minutes enabled Guise- ley to secure victory and move up to third in the promotion race against ten-man Solihull Moors.

The visitors had Stuart Pierpoint sent off after 24 minutes but stunned the Lions by taking the lead on the half hour through Justin Marsden.

The Moors were good value for their lead as they played the better football as Guiseley struggled to find their feet.

Injuries and tiredness may well be beginning to tell, but manager Steve Kittrick no doubt had some harsh words for his team at the break.

Former Huddersfield Town player Simon Baldry was introduced on the right of midfield in place of Jamie Clarke and the move soon started to have an impact.

Baldry created an early opportunity which wasn’t taken, but the Lions made no mistake after 52 minutes.

Defender Danny Ellis has developed an appetite for goalscoring and he made it three in six games as he popped up between two defenders to score.

The goal was just what Guiseley needed to settle their nerves.

Skipper Simon Ainge wasn’t going to be outdone by his defensive partner and he beat goalkeeper Jasbir Singh with a stunning 40-yard drive.

It was all Guiseley now and a third goal followed in the 59th minute when striker Joe O’Neill headed the ball down for midfielder Ciaran Toner to power home. It sealed a valuable win.
