GUISELEY boss Adam Lockwood admitted he was “frustrated and angry” by the 3-0 loss at Barrow but is urging a response against Boreham Wood on Saturday.

The Lions were sent tumbling back to the bottom of the Vanarama National League following their comprehensive defeat in Cumbria on Tuesday night.

Lockwood could not hide his disappointment at the result as two goals shortly before half-time from Jordan Williams and Bryon Harrison put high-flying Barrow in control.

Harrison then added his second after the break to confirm a 14th league defeat of the season for Guiseley, whose visit of Boreham Wood is followed by a trip to fellow strugglers York next Tuesday.

Lockwood said: “We've lost 3-0 but we matched them kick for kick really.

“They're a really good side and it's a tough place to come.

“It was a great first goal and they say goals change games, but there was an opportunity for people on Tuesday night and I learned a lot.

“You wouldn't think it, but there were a lot of positives.

“Barrow will probably be looking at it and thinking they have been a bit lucky.

“Yes, they scored three goals but we gifted them to Barrow and that's what frustrated me the most.

“If we don't go there and compete, and match them for what they are, they will walk over you in terms of the way they play.

“It was a tightly-fought contest but the people who were there and saw the goals will understand why the scoreline what it was.

“I'm frustrated and angry but I have to take some positives out of it and move on to the next game.

“As a squad, we have to learn from it if we are to do anything.”

Upwardly mobile Boreham Wood edged into the top seven of the National League with a hard-fought 1-0 win at home to Sutton on Tuesday.

Looking ahead to this weekend’s clash Nethermoor showdown, Lockwood added: “Every game that we play is an opportunity for us to improve our situation.

“It's never going to be easy, I knew that from day one, but we have to learn and try and be positive by taking those learning curves into the next game.

“That's me, Dave (Penney), the backroom staff and the players - as a club, we have to do it as a whole.”
