Guiseley boss Adam Lockwood believes his side can head to Lincoln for Saturday’s FA Cup tie overflowing with confidence after two successive wins.

The Lions climbed off the foot of the Vanarama National League last weekend after beating Southport 2-1 at Nethermoor.

It was their second victory inside five days following the remarkable 6-1 thumping of York City and has poured new-found self-belief into Lockwood’s troops.

Next up for Guiseley is a trip to promotion-chasing league rivals Lincoln in the Emirates FA Cup Qualifying Fourth Round.

The Imps lie third in the National League but Lockwood is boosted by the news that on-loan Swindon striker and Leeds duo Alex Purver and Billy Whitehouse have been granted permission to play by their parent clubs.

Goalkeeper Jon Maxted has been refused permission to play by Forest Green Rovers, so Dan Atkinson is set to return between the sticks.

Lockwood said: “It's a massive task but if we don't go to Lincoln full of confidence after these two past results then we never will do.

“I've got great belief in these guys and we will be doing the same as usual this weekend – preparing as best we can

“Hopefully we can go there and put on a performance.

“That could be an exciting performance or a performance like Southport last week when we did the right things and really earned the victory. Hopefully we can do that again at Lincoln on Saturday.”

Lockwood was left delighted with his side’s gritty display against the Sandgrounders which saw Michael Rankine head home a late winner.

Jake Cassidy fired a superb opener four minutes into the second half but Jamie Allan levelled for Southport before Rankine nodded in a cross from fellow substitute Adam Boyes.

On-loan Leeds midfielder Purver said: “It has been a tough time lately and I think lesser teams would have got their heads down and folded.

“But we have showed that we have good mental strength character in the dressing room. Slowly but surely, we are climbing up the league and just need to keep ticking off the wins.

“It’s brilliant to be off the bottom and a massive mental boost.”

Meanwhile, Albion Sports will visit Nethermoor in the West Riding County Cup.

The Northern Counties East Premier Division side also start the competition in the second round.

The fixture will take place on Tuesday, November 1 with a 7:45pm kick-off.
