GUISELEY now know that they will face National League rivals Lincoln City in the FA Cup a week on Saturday – but they are focusing on the two important league fixtures before that fourth qualifying round tie.

The Lions face two home games against clubs in and around them in the table as Adam Lockwood’s men battle to lift themselves out of the basement.

They host York City – who are just two points outside the relegation zone – in a derby tonight, and second from bottom Southport on Saturday.

Lockwood knows that it is a very important week for the club and he is hopeful that his side can bank their first win of the campaign.

He said: “At Sutton on Saturday we looked like a team that has improved for me.

“As tough as it’s been, the clubs we are coming up against know that they have been in a game. It’s disappointing not getting a win but when you go away from home and play so well you can feel proud of the players and the fans.

“If we stick together we will become powerful. I think that’s happening and I can only thank everybody around the club for that.”

The Lions lost 1-0 at Sutton United at the weekend while York lost by the same score at home to Aldershot. The Minstermen have taken just one point from their last five games.

Farsley Celtic are also back in action tonight after a 1-0 defeat – they exited the FA Cup following a loss at home to Bishop Auckland.

The Celts face another cup tie tonight as Liversedge visit Throstle Nest in the first round of the West Riding County Cup.

After their full bloodied clash with The Auckland, joint Farsley boss Neil Parsley said: “We have a good squad here, a strong squad, and some of the lads who were on the bench at the weekend will be starting against Liversedge.”

Sedge are riding high at the summit of the Toolstation Northern Counties East top tier.

Brighouse Town are also top of their division as they make the short trip to Garforth Town for their first round tie.

Sedge’s neighbours and NCE Premier Division rivals Thackley could depose Jonathan Rimmington’s men with a home win tonight.

The third-placed Dennyboys host eighth-placed Pickering Town knowing that three points would take them top.
