ADAM Lockwood has been confirmed as Guiseley’s permanent manager and will be assisted by the vastly-experienced Dave Penney.

Lockwood has been in interim charge for the past six games following the sacking of Mark Bower, who has been appointed as Bradford Park Avenue boss.

Despite failing to preside over a victory during that sequence – the winless Lions are rock-bottom of the Vanarama National League after 11 games – Lockwood has been confirmed as first-team boss.

The arrival of Penney is seen as a major boost to rookie manager Lockwood as the Lions bid to climb to safety.

Penney won the National League twice, with Darlington and Doncaster, and has Football League managerial experience at Bristol Rovers, Oldham, and Southend.

He also played over 400 games in the Football League and him and Lockwood took training together for the first time tonight (Thursday).

Their first game in tandem will be the visit of Macclesfield to Nethermoor on Saturday.
