GUISELEY boss Mark Bower says his side will go all out to win at Southport on Saturday and claim a victory that would see them leapfrog their fellow strugglers.

The Lions’ 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Dover last weekend means Bower’s men have not won for seven games in the Vanarama National League.

Yet victory at Haig Avenue would be a massive boost to their survival prospects ahead of the visit of Chester to Nethermoor on Easter Monday.

Bower said: “We’ll go to Southport looking to win the game and that’s what we’ve done in the past few weeks.

“We’ve had a tough run of fixtures against teams going for promotion and now we’ve got a couple of games over Easter against teams in and around us in the league.

“We’ve just got to approach it in the same way – be positive and, on the whole, play like we have done.”

Guiseley suffered a 1-0 home loss at the hands of promotion-chasing Dover last Saturday after Stefan Payne's low 20-yard strike settled the match early on.

James Hurst saw red after he was shown a second yellow card for a late tackle on Jack Parkinson.

Hurst will now miss the Southport trip through suspension and Bower added: “I couldn’t have asked for any more from the lads.

“In our last three home games, we have played three top-five sides in Tranmere, Dover and Grimsby and I don’t think you could make any kind of argument that we deserved to lose any of those games.

“But the brutal facts now are that we need to stick the ball in the back of the net and at least turn some of these draws into wins.

“We will have a better opportunity to do that over this weekend but the pressure is on to perform and go and get the results.”
