Guiseley 0 Lincoln City 1

GUISELEY'S live TV debut ended in disappointment as their seven-match unbeaten run came to an end at Nethermoor, last night.

Despite the presence of the BT Sport cameras, a bumper crowd of 1,279 tuned up to watch the Vanarama National League clash.

The home supporters thought their side had scored early when Liam Dickinson got his head a Wayne Brooksby set piece. Instead it was the Imps who broke the deadlock in the 17th minute following a break down the left flank.

A low cross in to the area was deflected away from goal by a defender’s knee but straight into the path of Matt Rhead who drilled in from 12 yards.

Guiseley’s George Marris almost responded just minutes later but his low shot was palmed away by the visitors’ keeper but that caused problems for the Lincoln defence until the whistle went for a foul on the keeper.

The Lions were playing good football when they were in possession but they weren’t getting enough of the ball. They did have two good chances to level in the first half, though, Jake Lawlor’s 20 yard volley dipped just too late and a rasping Danny Boshell effort was headed for a corner.

Lincoln came closest to adding a second however when Lions keeper Steve Drench made a stunning reaction save to deny Rhead a second.

Marris, the young Barnsley loanee, sent in a shot that clipped the top of the bar as the home side began the second half well, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
