Guiseley boss Mark Bower is hoping his side’s luck will turn as they gear up for two home games in four days aiming to end their five-match winless streak.

The Lions host Woking on Saturday before their rivalry with Halifax is renewed when the Shaymen make the short trip to Nethermoor next Tuesday.

Bower’s side have lost only three of their opening eight games following their promotion to the National League for the first time in the club’s history.

They have lost their last two home games against Aldershot Town and Gateshead but have since claimed draws away to Chester and Torquay.

Bower is confident another win is not far away and said: “Woking will be another difficult one and we’ve obviously had a couple of indifferent results in our last two home games.

“But in the two away games since then, and even the recent home game with Gateshead, we take a lot of heart from those performances because we have created plenty of chances.

“If we continue to do that then we will get more than one goal in a game and the win will come.

“The fixtures come thick and fast with Saturday-Tuesday with Woking and then Halifax, so all the squad are going to be needed.

“This is what we are here for and we’re enjoying it, so we just need that stroke of luck now because I think that’s all it is in terms of the difference between us drawing and winning.

“Hopefully we can turn these draws into wins in front of our own supporters in the next couple of games.”

Bower was left encouraged by his side’s display following last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Torquay.

The visitors hit the post through Zac Thompson before Liam Dickinson gave them the lead from the penalty spot after Exodus Geohaghon felled Will Hatfield.

Geohaghon made amends soon after from close range but in the final 10 minutes Wayne Brooksby hit the post for Guiseley.

Bower said: “On the balance of play and the amount of chances we created, I’m a little bit disappointed we’ve not taken all three points.

“On the break in the second half, we had the glorious chance through Wayne and he hits the inside of the post and it runs along the line.

“It’s not really going for us in front of goal but I can’t argue with the performance.”

Adam Boyes will be assessed ahead of Woking’s visit after taking a blow to his knee during a challenge against Torquay.
