GUISELEY manager Mark Bower is likely to keep his thoughts to himself in future after the FA Cup fourth qualifying draw gave his side a tough test.

While his players were talking optimistically of facing opposition from lower down the football pyramid, Bower predicted that the worse outcome would be an away clash at Halifax or Grimsby.

"I couldn't believe it when we heard on Monday that we had an away tie at Grimsby," he said.

"They are a big club in non league football. They are a club with a long Football League history and it is going to be a tough test.

"Having said that, we have nothing to fear. The pressure will be on them and the prize of a place in the first round alongside big clubs like Sheffield United, Portsmouth, Bradford City and Coventry City, is a big incentive."

Before the cup clash on October 26, Guiseley have a tough Vanarama Conference North test at North Ferriby on Saturday.

Bower will be hoping that his side can repeat last season's 3-2 win there which was his first victory as manager.

"We played well and it was the result that turned things around for us," said Bower.

"Playing North Ferriby is never easy but we seem to be in a good run of form and I hope we can keep it going."

Injuries continue to plague his selection. Last Saturday he had only two senior players among the substitutes for the 3-0 FA Cup win over Halesowen Town.

Danny Boshell, Ben Parker, Danny Hall, Jack Stockdill and Alex Johnson are all at various stages of their recoveries.

Bower said: "With so many experienced players ruled out it is pleasing to achieve the results we have been getting.

"It will be good when we get the injured players back because that will increase the competition for places."
