Bramhope 1 Burley Trojans 3
BURLEY Trojans made it five wins on the bounce thanks to a Chris Holmes double at Bramhope on Tuesday night.
Bramhope were the last team to beat Burley so player/manager Tom Higman was keen on taking all three points.
The Trojans were without top goalscorer Danny Bryan through a hamstring injury and they started slowly. The opening exchanges were dominated by the home side and they opened the scoring after their striker flicked home a long throw.
Higman shuffled the pack and Tom Ross dropped back into midfield. The changes worked and it was not long before Higman released Holmes down the right. He struck a lethal drive into the net to bring the sides level before half-time.
The second half was dominated by the Trojans and they went in front when winger Holmes turned his man neatly and fired a shot low into the bottom corner.
Another bit of excellent play saw Burley finish the game off. Stuart Dibb sent a ball into the box from a set piece and Eddy Bryan latched on to the rebound and smartly lobbed the ball over the scrambling Bramhope goalkeeper.
That win for Burley takes them to five points off third spot with two games in hand.
