OTLEY'S director of rugby Peter Clegg is just thankful that the club's injury crisis has only affected one part of his team.

He said ahead of their home National League Two North match against third-placed Hinckley on Saturday: "We have six first-choice backs missing at the moment.

"But at least the forwards are all right as they are dominating most of the packs that we play."

Winger Declan Jackson became the 31st player to pull on an Otley first XV shirt this season last weekend at South Leicester, and scored a try that almost gained them a second bonus point in a 44-34 defeat.

"I was itching for him to get the ball," admitted Clegg, "and he scored a good try from 40 metres out and will be involved again this weekend.

"We definitely deserved a second league point, and probably five in stages.

"We won the second half 14-7, and with a bit more composure in the first half we would have won the match."

As for the injuries, Clegg said: "Most of them are two-to-three week things, but Ollie Goss won't be back until the new year as he has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament."

Otley, who are third from bottom (14th), have 14 league points, with only three points separating them from 11th-placed Blaydon.
