RUGBY union has lost one of its great characters with news of the death of former Yorkshire RFU secretary Albert Geoffrey Parker.
The ex-Otley president, who also led the club in a general sense, died peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children, in Burley Hall Nursing Home.
Otley's RUFC's communications officer Nick Doyle wrote on their website: "Stories about Albert Geoffrey are the stuff of legend and every one will have one or more to tell.
"Our condolences go to the whole Parker family, who have done so much for Otley Rugby Club over the years."
Albert Geoffrey's funeral will be held at St Chad's Parish Church, Otley Road, Headingley (Leeds LS16 5JT) on Wednesday, March 16 (2pm).
