SSE National League Two North: Luctonians 21, Otley 40

OTLEY returned to winning ways, securing the bonus point on the 44th minute of this SSE National League Two North contest and running in six tries all told.

The visitors followed an acquired habit by scoring inside two minutes, flanker Tom O’Donnell going over from a close-in line-out.

Scrum half Stephen Depledge missed the conversion but had no trouble with the remaining five kicks at goal, and it was a good day for kickers, centre Geraint Langdon having success with his three efforts.

The Otley forwards gradually began to have the edge in the tight game but a lapse on 16 minutes allowed hooker Jordan Street to force his way through a maul, the conversion securing the lead for Luctonians.

But that lasted just six minutes before an interception on halfway put fly half James White in at the posts, and with half-time nigh, winger Henry Roberts and Depledge cut a swathe down the middle to put lock Sam Cook over.

But there was time for a re-start, and winger Joe Doyle was allowed to make ground before passing to full back Will Burton coming up at speed.

The five-point lead was soon improved, centre Jack Mackie powering his way to the line four minutes after the break, and though Luctonians struck back with a try in the corner from winger Adam Knight, Otley made sure with tries from Roberts and No 8 Freddie Watson.
