OLD Otliensians are preparing for the biggest game in their history on Saturday

They face Eccleshall in the semi-final of the RFU Junior Vase at Chaffers Field with a place in the Twickenham final the prize for the winners.

Coach Kris Stafford is hopeful that he will have a full set of players to choose from.

He said: "We should be at full strength for the semi-final with regular full-back Alex Murphy back involved after three weeks away with work.

"A couple of players need to pass fitness tests, but we are confident they will be fit.”

He continued: “This week we will be preparing like any other fixture. We will review the “good, bad and the ugly” from last Saturday’s fixture against Leeds Mods (a 24-13 victory) with some practical-based games to fine tune a few things.

"Tonight, we will preview Eccleshall and then structure a training session to ensure we are tactically prepared for Saturday and relate everything back to our playing framework.

"We know it’s going to be a tough fixture against an unknown outfit, so mindset, resilience and attitude are going to be the key to success.

"We’re hoping the whole of Otley will be coming down to support us in this final hurdle on our way to Twickenham!”

'Ensians have romped to the semi-final stage, with three huge victories. They obliterated Wallsend 126-0 in October, before travelling to West Hartlepool TDSOB and coming away with a 72-0 win.

They finally conceded their first points of the competition at home to Ramsey in the quarter-final, but still eased to a 38-3 victory over the Isle of Man outfit.

It promises to be a difficult game against Staffordshire-based Eccleshall but 'Ensians will be confident after their cup run so far.

The winners will take on South Molton or Chipstead in the final.

The match kicks off at 3pm and the bar will be open from 1pm.
