Shoulder injury puts Tiffany out
 |
| James Tiffany |
After a week without a game Otley RUFC are set to break new ground with a trip to Southend who are lying seventh in the table with eight wins and nine defeats and a pretty even points scoring of 427 for to 412 against.
They took a bit of a hiding at Cross Green back in October when Danny Smith (2), Rob Whatmuff and Paul Williams scored tries, Robin Kitching converting all four and landing a penalty in a 37-11 victory but there is a major headache for Peter Clegg to find a back row for Saturday's game.
James Tiffany, who was unable to make a start until November, received a shoulder injury against Westcombe Park, which was only his tenth game.
This will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season and there are doubts as to when Matt Stockdale, with a similar injury in the same game, will be available whilst Paul Williams, who was married on Saturday standing in at No 6 against Halifax pulled a hamstring and remains doubtful.
It is expected that Danny Smith and Alastair Monks will be fully recovered and there is a possibility that Guy Easterby will be back from his stint with Leinster to contest the scrum-half spot.
With programme editor Peter Thompson holidaying on the opposite side of the world there is an opportunity for someone to express his or herself by compiling their idea of how the programme should appear for the next three home games, Manchester on February 16, Nuneaton on March 1 and Redruth on March 29.
Any takers please contact Marc Lawrence at the club on 01943 461180.
