Otliensians hassle Hessle
Old Otliensians 21
Hemsworth 15
This was never going to be an easy game for Otliensians against a gritty South Yorkshire side fighting to secure survival in Yorkshire 4.
Otliensians on the other hand still harbour hopes of overcoming Hessle to add the title to their promotion success but this necessitates Hessle losing to Bramley Phoenix in their last game of the season and Otliensians winning.
Hessle currently hold a one point lead over Otliensians with Bramley in third place a further ten points adrift.
Although Otliensians had comfortably beaten Hemsworth 28-7 in the game away earlier in the season Hemsworth had not laid down then and certainly did not on Saturday.
In fact they opened with a penalty conversion after ten minutes and a try after 20 minutes.
Before the break Markus Keinhorst scored a well-taken try to pull five points back for Otliensians and narrow the scoreline to 8-5 at the interval.
After the break second row Simon Hill put Otliensians ahead and although Hemsworth added a converted try, two penalties by stand-off Kristian Keinhorst for Otliensians and a further try by Hill put the home side clear for one of their tighter wins of the season by 21-15.
This evening, Thursday, Otliensians entertain Ilkley Seconds in the Skipton Properities Aire-Wharfe Cup semi-final, kick-off 6.30pm at Pool Road.
