Ben Rhydding 8 Crewe Vagrants 0

North Men's Division One leaders Ben Rhydding overcame the absence of four first-team regulars to score their biggest win of the season.

Rhydding started well with Callum Hodson and Harry Bush prominent.

However, Crewe forced David Carter to make some crucial saves as they threatened to take the lead.

Tom Zillessen went close with two deflections while at the other end a corner for Crewe was well defended by Dave Exley and Neil Sugden.

Young Elliot Dowley had a sparkling game and forced the corner which led to the first goal.

Will Musgrave stepped up to convert with a searing drag flick.

Many circle entries followed with Tynan Cassidy, George Sweeting and Will Musgrave to the fore.

Crewe continued to find success in getting forwards and it became clear to see why they have been scoring so well in recent games.

Carter was more than delighted to show his goalkeeping skills.

Rhydding stepped up the pace and took advantage as Crewe tired.

Playmaker, Musgrave made one of his favourite passes into the D for the ever hungry Danny Foster to score.

Foster, Connor Dowley, Mus -grave and Harry Sherlock featured in the move that saw Zillessen score.

Sterling work by Ian Thomas and Callum Hodson forced a corner and Musgrave struck to deflate Crewe.

The home side came out hard in the second half and scored an early goal.

Danny Foster’s excellent shot was saved but gave him the chance to set up Callum Hodson for his first goal this season.

It was less than a minute later when the mazy Sugden twirled his way through and slotted a ball for Sherlock to score with a reverse-stick finish.

Crewe continued to chase Rhydding fruitlessly around the park but the home side played beautiful, composed hockey and did not let them join in.

It was a lengthy passage of quality possession that led to the seventh goal.

Sweeting edged the ball to Hodson who pathed the way for Sherlock to score.

The last word went to Zillessen who powered through a crowd of players to make it 8-0.
