Hull 1 Ben Rhydding 4

North Men's Division One leaders Ben Rhydding once again, came off pleased to win but frustrated not to have been more convincing and clinical.

Good intensity and simple passing soon led to the first penalty corner for Rhydding and Will Musgrave netted with an impressive drag flick.

Neil Sugden and Kieran Borrett dominated the midfield while early balls, deep on the left from the big Aussie, Tynan Cassidy opened the pitch many times and released Josh Sykes and George Sweeting in threatening positions.

One such move from Cassidy drew a clever dummy from Musgrave to let the ball through for Sykes.

Sugden then picked out the perfect cross for George Sweeting to make a skillful deflection for the second goal. Musgrave put one shot over the bar before setting up the unmarked Danny Foster for the third goal.

This may have allowed complacency to creep in and Rhydding were slow to react as Hull netted after a save from David Carter.

This stirred the home side into action. Harry Sherlock broke free on the right and put a divine cross into Danny Foster who slid to deflect an absolute beauty into the roof of the net.

Going into the break 4-1 up, Rhydding could be forgiven for thinking that the margin would grow.

However, a goalless second half saw the rain close in and Hull hold out.

Rhydding have a huge game ahead on Saturday against Gateshead away which will be a top of the table clash.
