Crewe Vagrants 1 Ben Rhydding 6

Crewe were cut down to size as leaders Ben Rhydding mastered a sandy pitch and irritating low sunlight to bag another three Men's North Division One points.

Crewe competed well and keeper David Carter had his best game of the season so far, making many superb saves.

However, Rhydding always looked the better side and once again, felt as though the margin of victory should have been bigger.

The sun was particularly difficult in the first half, making Crewe’s aerial threat more effective than it should have been, but skipper Dave Exley ensured they were kept at bay.

The defence linked well with the midfield as space was created for the forwards. Danny Foster popped up in the D to score a reverse shot after running excellent lines.

It was a quiet game for Will Musgrave but he still bagged a great slam for goal number two. Kieran Borrett was a complete handful for the Crewe midfield who just could not live with him.

He put relentless balls into the D and it was a delight to get Alex White on the scoresheet after his intense work rate, with a clean reverse shot. Musgrave made it 4-0 with a bullet of a drag flick from a corner and Rhydding went into the half-time break feeling comfortable.

An early break away from Crewe saw their spirits soar when they scored but it was short lived as Rhydding switched back on and Josh Sykes made it 5-1 with a text book far post positioning for a tap in.

Just as they began to cruise into overdrive Exley pulled up in agony with a hamstring injury. Having quickly re-organised with Danny Foster jumping into full back, Rhydding lost their rhythm.

Carter was faced with a one on one in the D and shot out and completely overpower his opponent who fumbled and kicked the ball.

This broke the spell and Rhydding were back on track; George Sweeting, capped an impressive performance by scoring the sixth goal.

Harry Sherlock impressed in the second half and Harry Bush did not put a foot wrong throughout.

Rhydding take on Manchester at home on Saturday at 3pm.
