The backbone of the current England cricket team will be out in force to take part in a charity match as part of Ryan Sidebottom’s benefit year.

The game to be held at Woodhouse Grove in Apperley Bridge on Sunday, August 15, will be between a RyanSidebottom England XI and a Celebrity XI chosen by his father Arnie Sidebottom.

Current England players Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad, Tim Bresnan, Adil Rashid and Ajmal Shahzad will battle it out against a host of celebrities such as Rolling Stones guitarist Bill Wyman, former Australian fast bowler Jeff Thomson, Darren Gough, boxer Lloyd Honegan, former Huddersfield Town legend Andy Booth as well as a host of TV celebrities and soap stars.

The match will follow a star studded three-course lunch on Sunday, August 15 during which there will be an auction of some of Ryan’s England memorabilia with proceeds from the day going towards his charitable trust, the ‘’Little Siddy Club” which was set up to raise money for Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire Children’s Hospices.

‘I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate a benefit year,’ Ryan explains, “And to be able to raise money for charities close to my heart is something very important to me.

“I hope many people can come down and support us and of course find out once and for all who is better cricketer, me or my dad!”

‘It’s going to be a great occasion’, adds Arnie “With plenty of fun and activities for families as well as a chance to meet some genuine stars in the world of sport, television and rock and roll.”

The day long event is one of a number of fundraising events spread across the year, with families all across the region urged to attend. Admission is £5 pounds per adult with family tickets available from £15 (2 adults and 2 children).
