Yeadon’s Damon Gormley has topped the JCT600 Bradford League Division bowling averages.

The experienced off spinner finished the season with 56 wickets at an average of 9.68.

His performances were one of the highlights of an inconsistent season from Yeadon who finished in seventh place.

The final weekend’s double programme saw them hammer Spen Victoria by 164 runs before losing by three-wickets at Hartshead Moor.

The undoubted highlight of Saturday’s final home game against Spen Victoria was Kasir Maroof’s maiden Bradford League century for the club.

The left-hander has flourished in his second season at the club and finished the campaign with 682 runs.

Maroof struck a six and 15 fours in an innings that enabled his side to post a total of 242-7.

Spen were dismissed for just 78 in reply with Mahmood Rasool (3-21) and Ben Elvidge (3-17) meeting with little resistance.

The clash with Hartshead Moor was a nail-biter.

The home side snatched the victory when Martin Riley hit Elvidge for six off the penultimate ball of the match.

Skipper Simon North (71) and Craig Field (37) were responsible for helping Hartshead Moor to overhaul a Yeadon score of 201, despite some good bowling from Rasool (4-51).

The Yeadon innings owed much to a knock of 90 from Oliver Halliday while skipper James Goldthorp, coming in at number nine, made 30.

Yeadon failed in their bid to win the Second Teams Division One title.

They defeated Pudsey St Lawrence by five wickets in their final game but Farsley pipped them to the title by six points after beating bottom team Windhill by nine wickets.
