Yeadon look for a double tonic to end their season

Yeadon will be looking to end a frustrating season on a high note when they tackle a double-programme on the final weekend of the season.

They host Spen Victoria on Saturday before rounding off their campaign at Hartshead Moor on Sunday.

Ironically Hartshead Moor and Spen Victoria are the two teams immediately below them in the table so Yeadon will be hoping for a couple of victories to boost their chances of a top six finish.

Last Saturday’s defeat at Morley was a disappointment with their top order batting failing.

Damon Gormley (45) and Ben Elvidge (29) top scored in a moderate total of 151 as overseas player Kashif Naveed (5-46) and pacemen Nathan Bromby (4-26) struck.

Morley didn’t have things their own way and were made to fight for their four-wicket win as that man Gormley again produced a fine sell of off spin bowling.

In 15 overs he took 3-27 and showed once again what a fine player he still is Yeadon’s second team go into their final game at Pudsey St Lawrence still in with a mathematical chance of lifting the Second Teams Division One title.

They are ten points behind leaders Farsley who are at home to bottom team Windhill in their final game at Red Lane.

Yeadon kept their challenge going with a 113-run win over Morley.

Ryan Mooney made74no as Yeadon declared on 244-9 and then took 5-21 as Morley were dismissed for 131 when they replied.
