Maroof on the ball as Yeadon win

Yeadon’s have developed a knack of performing well against the top teams in Division Two and it served them well on Saturday.

They defeated a Great Horton side that has undergone something of a resurgence this year by five wickets.

It was a victory that was set up by their bowlers who capitalised on the helpful conditions after overnight rain.

Kasir Maroof produced his season’s best bowling figures of 6-24 as Yeadon dismissed Great Horton for 87 when they batted first on a green pitch.

Overseas player Suleman Khan (32) top scored for Great Horton as they struggled to combat the medium pace of Maroof, as they were bowled out for 87.

Yeadon looked in trouble at 9-3 and then 20-4, but the experienced Damon Gormley kept a cool head.

He hit an unbeaten 42 which enabled Yeadon to complete a five-wicket win which went siome way to erasing the memory of their defeat to bottom team Windhill a week earlier.
