HANGING Heaton's prolific opening pair of Gary Fellows and Nick Connolly piled on the agony for bottom team Pudsey Congs in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Premier Division.

Fellows made a season's-best 146 and Connolly 123 not out - his fourth league century of the campaign - in a partnership of 268.

Fellows hit four sixes and 15 fours, while Connolly's innings included a six and nine fours as he took his tally of league runs to 953.

Hanging Heaton made a daunting 291-1 from their 43 overs as the young Congs bowlers were put to the sword.

Their batsmen didn't fare any better and were skittled out for 57 as paceman Tom Chippendale took 6-26 and spinner Muhammad Rameez 3-2.

The day's closest finish came at Lightcliffe, where second-placed Farsley squeezed home by two wickets.

Chris Henry, who had earlier claimed the important wickets of Lightcliffe openers Alex Stead and Alex Lees in his opening spell, hit a six off the fourth ball of the 49th over from Kashif Naveed to seal the win.

Opener James Price, with a fine 85, Matthew Revis (49) and skipper Ryan Cooper (49) seemed to be steering their side to a more comfortable win when young seamer Jonathan Whiteoak bowled all four of his victims to finish with 4-66 and set up the dramatic finale.

Kasir Maroof (58) and recent signing Niall Lockley (46) top-scored for Lightcliffe, while Naveed (36) and Jonathan Wilson (30) helped their side to 222-6.

Spinner Adam Ahmed was the most successful Farsley bowler with 3-73.

Woodlands' slim chance of winning the league title all but disappeared as they suffered a three-wicket defeat at New Farnley.

Woodlands lost their way after the departure of skipper Tim Jackson for 35.

He was one of four victims for former Yorkshire, Essex and Northamptonshire off-spinner James Middlebrook, who took 4-29 in his 15 overs as the Woodlands innings lost its way, with Dave Cummings taking 3-11 as Woodlands were dismissed for 138.

New Farnley set off at a brisk rate in reply, with opener Simon Lambert leading the charge with 78.

Former New Farnley skipper Mark Lawson took 4-47 but couldn't prevent his old club from winning.

Batley's bid to avoid relegation suffered a big blow as they were bowled out for just 60 as they went down to an eight-wicket defeat at Bradford & Bingley.

Pacemen Jack Hartley (6-35) and Yassir Abbas (3-25) impressed as the Batley batting crumbled.

Bradford & Bingley then eased to victory in 10.2 overs, losing two wickets on the way.

Wicket-keeper Charlie Best hit his first century for Pudsey St Lawrence as they compiled 259-5 against Cleckheaton.

Best hit a six and 15 fours in his 101 and was joined in a second-wicket stand of 155 by the in-form Adam Waite, who made 63 to take his league aggregate for the season to 801.

With Chris Marsden blasting an unbeaten 63 from 34 balls, including five sixes and three fours, St Lawrence posted a challenging total of 259-5.

Cleckheaton recovered from losing early wickets to make 204 in reply. Mally Nicholson again led the way with a knock of 68, while Andy Gorrod made 35.

Marsden crown a good individual performance by taking 4-50, while Charlie Parker took 3-39.

The six bonus points Cleckheaton collected have increased the gap between themselves and the relegation positions to 11 points.

East Bierley, in need of points to stay clear of relegation, suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of fourth-placed Townville.

They were bowled out for 165 battlng first, with eight of their batsmen reaching double figures, but their joint top scorers were Shaaiq Choudhary and 'Mr Extras' with 24.

Opening bowler Conor Harvey (4-70) and spinner Jack Hughes (4-33) did much of the damage.

The same two players made a decisive impact with the bat, with Harvey top-scoring with 52 and Hughes chipping in with 34 as Townville eased to victory.

Umar Yaqoob took 3-32 for East Bierley.
