Teenage batsmen Joe Braham and Dom Kellett hit unbeaten centuries as they set a new Aire-Wharfe record for the second wicket Fourteen-year-old Braham and 17-year-old Kellett shared an unbroken stand of 241 as they steered Otley’s third team to a stunning nine-wicket victory over Bilton at Cross Green on Sunday.
Braham and Kellett both hit unbeaten centuries in an incredible victory for their side.
Chasing a daunting 262 to win in 40 overs, Otley got home in the penultimate over of an eventful game.
Braham and Kellett took the match by the scruff of the neck after skipper Chris Keddle departed for 14 with the Otley total on 25.
Braham and Kellett soon began to pick apart the visitors’ young bowling attack as they unfurled an array of attacking strokes.
Opener Braham struck a six and 15 fours while Kellett struck two sixes and 20 fours as he made 120 not out from 90 balls.
It was fitting that Braham finished the match with a six to delight the crowd that had gathered on the steps of the famous pavilion to watch as the two batsmen secure a victory few would have thought likely when Bilton made 261-3.
Their total was built around a magnificent innings of 159 not out by 17-year-old Michael Donnelly.
He hit a six and 26 fours as he took advantage of some sloppy Otley fielding.
In all 527 runs were scored in less than 78 overs with only four wickets falling.
